“THERE IS NO FINISH LINE…. enjoy the ride”IMG00018-20090712-1251aWeb

My name is Robert Armstrong and I have been on the journey to increase the quality of my life, and the lives of others through health and fitness, while living a life with purpose.  Hence the title of my blog: “There is No Finish Line”.

I decided to publish this blog to engage and motivate others to approach health from a preventative perspective, instead of the current “react to illness” model that’s currently producing alarmingly poor health outcomes that are financially unsustainable.  If unchanged, this disturbing trend will significantly affect our economy and overall health of our nation.

I have motivated and coached individuals for years in the “real world”; promoting smart lifestyle choices to increase their quality of life, and now I want to leverage this “virtual” communications vehicle to achieve the same positive results to a wider audience.

Health-care & our Food Supply on Life Support

Trend 1:It should come as no surprise to anyone living in North America, that the approaches currently used by our medical community, especially in regard to degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's's, arthritis, asthma, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, etc. are not only ineffective, but financially unsustainable.

Trend 2:It should also come as no surprise that our food supply is significantly deficient of adequate nutrients, even for those that eat "healthy foods" purchased from the neighbourhood grocery store.

Trend 3: Due to the general lack of exercise, inadequate nutrition and poor lifestyle choices passed down by their parents for the first time in history children of this generation will be less healthy and will live shorter life-spans than their parents.

We should all be concerned by the deteriorating medical statistics and disturbed by the token support and funding directed towards preventive health-care. The accepted approach to health-care by policy makers, medical professionals and generally accepted by the public, is to react and treat poor health primarily through the use of drugs.

The cause of degenerative diseases can usually be traced back to a combination of poor lifestyle choices, toxic exposure from various sources and a deficient food supply void of high quality nutrients necessary to maximum human performance while resisting the progression of degenerative diseases.

About this Blog

The natural state of the human body is health, not illness.  Observing the current health of the majority of North American’s, one would question the validity of this statement.

Within this blog over time, we will explore the history of how we got to our current health-care situation, the degraded state of our food supply, medical professional’s attitudes and practises that focus on illness not health, and most importantly steps that need to be taken by all to ensure maximum vitality.  I will also feature organizations, social groups and movements that are taking a positive stand and are determined to put “health” back into “health care”.

My primary focus will be to concentrate on wellness, not sickness, and the means to prevent common degenerative diseases from ever occurring through healthy lifestyle choices, smart nutritional choices, supplementing a degraded food supply, exercise, while featuring the latest research in the health and wellness industry.

When someone speaks about their health, have you ever heard them say, “My health has been pretty good, I’ve been lucky so far?”  Let me assure you, when it comes to your health, or most everything in life for that matter, “luck” has very little to do with the outcome.  If you want to predict your future health, just make it happen!

About the Publisher: Robert Armstrong

I am not a doctor - in fact I am a business professional that has been marketing high technology solutions into health-care institutions for decades and I have witnessed first hand the ineffective and wasteful approaches to health-care at all levels, from our political policy makers, to front line care givers, to the attitudes of the general public regarding their own personal health.

I’ve been a high performance runner, cyclist and triathlete for over 30 years, having placed as high as 10thin Ironman Canada, in addition to riding cross-country in an effort to support charities and causes that align with my purpose of increasing the quality of life for others.  Having watched my mother die many years ago of cancer and in my effort to optimize my own personal athletic performance, my research has guided me towards preventative health and wellness practises that have allowed me to live my life to its maximum while sharing the practises and lessons learned with others, thereby increasing the quality of their lives.

The proactive method, which I will feature within this blog, includes the affect of positive changes in lifestyle, exercise, diet, nutrition and supplements that are high in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins, while providing motivating techniques that hopefully alter lifestyles towards optimal, healthy living with purpose.  Together, we will also observe the state of our health as a population and provide feedback and comments that I hope you will integrate into your own life.

It’s been said, “You have nothing if you don’t have your health”.  Make your health a priority, starting today.
